Craig’s first step into the commercial world of food began at age 12, working in his local fish and chip shop, starting his cooking apprenticeship at the age of 16 and moving into a boutique, fine dining Italian restaurant.
At age 18 Craig moved from his small home town in the mid north coast of NSW, to pursue bigger and better things in the city of Newcastle. During his time there, Craig gained experience from a handful of exclusive restaurants and fine dining establishments, and as he approached his 3rd year of apprenticeship he secured himself a position within the world renowned IHG Intercontinental Hotel & Crowne Plaza Hotel Group, in the beautiful setting of the Hunter Valley wine region in NSW.
When it came time to complete his 4-year apprenticeship in 2010, Craig was honourably appointed as a head chef within the IHG Group, at just 20 years old. He was responsible for a team of his own menu, chefs and kitchen staff at one of the luxurious restaurants within the hotel group. During his time in the Hunter Valley, Craig took advantage of the incredible wine region, learning constantly from other executive chefs, wine sommeliers and culinary influencers.
In 2016 Craig decided it was time to make his vision into a reality, and thus, My Private Chef was born. Craig wanted to offer a service that brought the opulence and high-end service of a fine dining restaurant, into your own home. To offer a full service from start to finish, covering front of house, design, table décor, to the kitchen set up, all required staff, skills and equipment.
Fast forward to 2018, Craig has spent time over the last 4 years cooking around the world with his wife and My Private Chef events co-ordinator Lucy by his side, cooking together with Michelin starred chefs in locations such as London, Barcelona, Ibiza, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, and Vanuatu.
Craig and the team at My Private Chef believe that quality is everything when it comes to food, and that belief and passion for outstanding service is shared all around.
